Siltation and Sedimentation

We consider siltation and sedimentation one of the most severe threats to the creek.  Erosion from irresponsible development, poorly maintained county roads and shoulders, and fluctuation of water levels due to de-forestation are the primary sources of this.

In some cases developers are not aware of the damage caused by the off-site runoff of mud from their excavations. In these cases we believe that an aggressive education program targeting developers will be of great assistance. There are other cases where the developers know better but try to skirt the laws and ignore regulations put in place to protect the creek. We will, and have continuously, put these people on notice with lawsuits or whatever means are at our disposal to stop repeated violators.
